Overview of Renewal Opportunity Management
Asset General Opportunities
Opportunities are a feature set that is only available to the VAR (Reseller) ADMIN and Manager Roles and to Distributor (VAD) Roles (in System instances where Distributor Roles are applicable). There are no End User facing views for Opportunities although you will be able to have Opportunity actions reflect on End User items such as Published or Booked Quotes as well as Data Imports which will indirectly change status of items based on the Opportunity status changes.

About Opportunities
Asset General platform defines an Opportunity as the possibility of Closing on a Renewable Service Coverage Item (Coverage Item for short). They are separated into two types: New Opportunities and Renewal Opportunities.
New Opportunities:Are created when you add an Opportunity from the Opportunities->Add New Opportunity. As shown in the flow diagram above when a New Opportunity is added you can also save the Asset, Contract and Coverage information in a pending state (actual items are not created).
Quoting Opportunities: An Opportunity can be quoted when it is added to a Coverage Quote OR if an existing Coverage Item is added to a Quote for Renewal then the related Opportunity also changes status to QUOTED.
Obviously an Opportunity can be quoted more than once.
If the Opportunity is WON (by either Booking a Quote with the Opportunity associated line in it or by using the Won button in the Opportunity detail page for non-quoted Opportunities), the related Asset, Contract and Coverage Items are automatically created. Renewal of an Opportunity or the related Coverage Item (shown in the Renewal Status attribute of the Coverage Item) will then kick-off the Opportunity lifecycle again.
The Opportunity Cycle in Asset General
Opportunities are designed to work seamlessly with other high level entities of Asset General such as Assets, Contracts, Coverage Items and Orders etc.
As shown in the diagram below, each high level entity in AG has causal (cause and effect) relationship with other items.
For example, when Assets are imported from an ERP Integration Feed, if service data is present Contracts, Coverage items are created automatically to track them as well.
Now, when a Coverage Item is created a Renewal Opportunity will get created automatically as well. That means for every single Coverage Item in the System there is exactly one and only one Opportunity of type RENEWAL.
